PROSPECTS
Foreign visitors continue to flock to Thailand, led by more affluent regional tourists

International arrivals to Thailand continue to record robust growth in 2019 in terms of number of trips. Growth in the number of arrivals from China has remained strong, with Chinese trips accounting for more than a quarter of all inbound arrivals.

There is more to Thailand than Bangkok

Bangkok is famous for its food markets, which are often considered among the best in the world, and has attracted growing interest from food lovers globally. Tourist spending on food and drinks has in part been driven by the Michelin Guide, which is a highly rated and globally recognised restaurant guide that has gained significant popularity among Asian travellers.

Tourism diversification to attract visitors to all parts of Thailand

Because of its ongoing commitment to supporting tourism in secondary cities and areas in the country, the Thai government has approved a series of tax-reduction measures to promote seminars, leisure travel and MICE events in 55 second-tier tourist provinces. It is also encouraging more travel during non-peak periods, to even out the seasonality factor between the months of travel.
