Executive Summary

Aug 2019
PROSPECTS
Singapore continues to see increasing visitor numbers

Total visitor arrivals once again recorded healthy growth in 2019. However, over the review period as a whole, inbound arrivals recorded a much better CAGR than inbound tourists’ spending.

Cruise expected to continue recording strong growth

Inbound and outbound tourist flows via cruise recorded the highest growth rates in 2019 and are expected to continue to do so in the forecast period. This strong growth can be attributed to more multi-generational family travel in the region as well as the cost efficiency of the all-inclusive packages on offer.

Partnerships to attract more visitors

Tourism is a crucial economic pillar in Singapore, which is evident in the government’s continuous investment in making Singapore an evolving vibrant destination for tourists. However, the inward pull factor has its limits in attracting more inbound tourists.
