The strong growth in outbound departures seen in 2022 as travel warnings have been relaxed is expected to continue over the forecast period, with growth rates slowing down over the course of the forecast period as the situation normalises. Number of trips in overall outbound departures will recover to pre-pandemic levels in 2026-207, with business outbound making a full recovery in 2026, leisure outbound in 2027, and MICE outbound earlier than both in 2025.
Overall inbound arrivals will recover to and surpass pre-COVID-19 levels in 2019, with business inbound recovering first in 2024, followed by leisure and MICE inbound in 2025. Domestic business, leisure and MICE domestic will all make a full recovery in 2024, thanks in large part to Denmark’s efforts to strengthen and promote domestic tourism - efforts which will continue in at least the early part of the forecast period.
