Both inbound and outbound tourism will continue to recover throughout the forecast period. While outbound departures will exceed their pre-pandemic peak by the end of the forecast period, inbound arrivals will not.
With regard to outbound travel, a difficult economic environment (particularly soaring housing costs) may lead some Irish travellers to holiday at home more and take fewer holidays abroad. Increased concerns about sustainability could put some younger consumers off air travel altogether or at least lead them to travel less frequently or favour short-haul routes over long-haul ones.
