Inbound and outbound business spending plummeted during the pandemic as most non-essential business trips were cancelled or postponed. Where possible most people switched to working from home with fewer in-person meetings and fewer business events or trips.
While domestic tourism drove growth in travel during 2021, the forecast period will see more significant rises in outbound departures as locals return to travelling abroad now that borders are reopened and travel restrictions lifted. Pent-up demand for foreign travel is strong, and the desire to move beyond Israel’s borders is also supported by the comparatively high prices of hotels and activities within the country.
