Large players like Zara Ceska Republica and H&M Hennes & Mauritz CZ, multibrand players like Bestseller and big international brands are continuing to put pressure on small retailers. As a result, smaller apparel retailers can no longer afford the high rent levels in central urban locations, and are being pushed to either move to less desirable locations, go fully online or go out of business.
While local male consumers value higher-quality apparel, reducing the need to make replacement purchases, lingering price-may continue to boost private label, which many associate with good value for money. When it comes to apparel, including menswear, the most prominent private label lines are offered by retailers, such as Crivit by Lidl, F&F by Tesco and Townland by Kaufland, as they tend to be positioned in the lowest price segment and are strongly aligned with seasonal wear.
