Plant-based milk has not yet reached its full potential and a solid increase in consumption is projected over the forecast period. The health and wellness trend, coupled with growing veganism, will support further growth and players will introduce brand extensions, both in branded and private label.
Plant-based cheese remains relatively small product area in 2022, but sees rapid growth as the number of people who seek to eliminate dairy from their diet or reduce their consumption of it increases. Over the forecast period, we anticipate demand for plant-based cheese to grow, as maintaining a plant-based diet becomes more common.
The offer of plant-based flavoured milk drinks in smaller packaging formats is still limited to two brands, Mullermilch Vegan and Alpro from Danone. On-the-go formats have good potential for growth as social conditions return to normal and people resume busier lifestyles and spend longer periods of time outside of the home.
