Imports of labneh, which is mainly manufactured in Turkey, have been hit by a ban on Turkish products entering Saudi Arabia since November 2020. While the Saudi Arabian Government denies the imposition of official restrictions, data from the kingdom’s General Authority for Statistics showed that total imports from Turkey fell to SAR14.
Cream is proving to be one of the strongest performing categories in other dairy in Saudi Arabia and new competitors have entered the market, including imported brand. Examples of newly entered brands include Kiri cooking cream, Ol food, Victoria, Grand’Or, AlRai, and Nada.
National Food Industries Co is set to remain the largest player in other dairy in 2021 thanks primarily to its leading position in the large condensed milk category through the Luna brand, though the brand also ranks second in cream. Pinar Dairy Food Co, meanwhile, is set to retain its lead in fromage frais and quark as it continues to enjoy strong loyalty amongst local consumers thanks to its well-known brand, which remains popular due to its high-quality and innovative products.
Other dairy is expected to see a significant focus on new product developments in the forecast period, as companies latch onto the health and wellness and convenience trends and seek to encourage new interest in the product area. Companies are likely to face growing competition over the forecast period with launches of new flavoured and healthier products expected to help add dynamism to the other dairy category.
