In 2023, airlines current value sales are expected to see a second consecutive triple-digit rise, in line with stronger tourism flows and higher air fares. International airlines are seeing faster value growth rates than domestic airlines, as a result of stronger inbound air traffic and much higher air fares.
Hotels is set to continue to register very high current value growth in 2023, albeit amid a highly inflationary climate. Although occupancy rates dropped in Q1 2023, due to the earthquake that shook the country in February 2023, hotels started to recover occupancy rates and value sales from early Q2 2023.
Booking online and offline sales are projected to see huge increases in current value terms in 2023, despite the disruption of the war in Ukraine, due to rising numbers of tourists and higher prices for products and services. Travel intermediaries are heavily used for the booking of lodging.
Over the forecast period, travel in Turkey is expected to see positive growth; if slower than in the late review period, when categories rebounded from a lower base due to the COVID-19 slump.
