Retail volume and current value sales of toilet care continued to grow in 2021, due to consumers adhering to higher standards of home hygiene and frequent cleaning during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Toilet liquids/foam remains the largest category, due to its wide offerings across all price segments.
ITBs (rim blocks) showed the highest growth in 2021 and this trajectory is expected to continue over the forecast period. Toilet care is not well developed in Uzbekistan and as noted, toilet liquids/foam is by far the most popular category, with many consumers remaining unaware of alternatives.
SC Johnson & Son Inc maintained its strong lead in toilet care in 2021, thanks to the success of its (locally named) Utenok brand (Duck globally). Local player MirTechnoPolimer MChJ QK’s popular Domfresh brand came in second place, but did not show strong competition to the leading player, despite its lower price point.
Sales growth in toilet care is expected to slow down from 2022, after the spike in sales seen during the time of COVID-19 in 2020 and 2021. This is because toilet care is still underdeveloped in Uzbekistan and consumers remain unaware of the variants in the category.
From 2022, toilet liquids/foam looks set to continue to decline, although there will be a small bounce back with ITBs (rim blocks) which is expected to continue to see healthy growth over the forecast period. This is attributed to the development in the category over the next couple of years, along with a gradually improving economy over time.
Despite the expected trends as discussed above, it is expected that toilet liquids/foam will continue to be the largest category across the forecast period, due to its higher and more widespread popularity with a range of consumers over different price segments.
