Over 2017-2018 other hot drinks witnessed marginally slower volume growth due to lack of new products and other alternatives offered by consumer health care manufacturers. Consumers are more interested in specialised products offering protein enhancement, meal replacement and energy boosters.
However, the other hot drinks category is expected to grow as companies introduce ready-to-drink versions of these beverages. Nestlé has relaunched Milo in RTD format and ZAGO (Bangalore-based nutrition RTD manufacturer) has launched a nutrition-based RTD drink.
Rising health awareness in India has fuelled demand for Ayurveda-based products. Consumers in India are increasingly participating in yoga and using Ayurvedic products as they consider them to be made from natural ingredients and to provide mental and physical wellbeing.
In 2017, other hot drinks witnessed the entry of new players and the re-entry of some of the old players. Despite a slowdown in the market Nestlé relaunched its Milo brand in India.
