There will be robust growth in retail volume sales of ice cream during the forecast period, with single portion dairy ice cream remaining by far the top performer. Amid ongoing population expansion and rapid urbanisation, widening distribution will remain the key driver of growth.
With most COVID-19 restrictions now eliminated, foodservice demand is reviving in Kenya, and demand for ice cream through this channel is set to increase significantly during the forecast period. Eat N' Go, which operates such quick service restaurant chains as Chicken Inn, Pizza Inn, Bakers Inn, and Creamy Inn has brought the Cold Stone Creamery brand to Kenya.
The number of supermarkets in Kenya is expanding steadily, with Naivas and Quickmart particularly aggressive in this regard, as both of them are now backed by international private equity funds. In particular, more supermarkets are being opened in residential areas of the country’s largest cities.
