Over the forecast period, ice cream and frozen yoghurt are expected to see much improved retail volume and value (constant 2022 prices) CAGRs, compared with the review period. There is also predicted to be a continued, and increasingly strong, rebound in foodservice volume sales.
As the competition in the category is set to intensify during the forecast period, ice cream producers in Nigeria will work to expand their distribution networks. In particular, companies will seek to strengthen distribution via modern grocery channels like supermarkets and hypermarkets, which grew their retail value shares during the review period.
The anticipated economic improvement in the country should create conditions for robust retail volume sales growth for take-home ice cream. Meanwhile, some consumers are expected to continue to shift towards smaller-sized packs and impulse ice cream in the early forecast period, for affordability reasons.
