Value sales of protein/energy bars will buck the downward trend in sports nutrition and continue to expand during 2020, albeit at a significantly lower rate of value sales growth than the previous year and from a very low base. These products became more visible during the latter part of the review period, with many manufacturers promoting them in a manner similar to other snacks.
