Poor quality tap water in rural regions maintains volume sales
Bottled water registered healthy retail volume growth in 2021. With many regions in Kazakhstan continuing to suffer from low-quality tap water, many consumers have no option but to purchase bottled water and this maintains volume sales.
Flavoured bottled water booms
Volume sales of flavoured bottled water more than doubled in 2021 and were the driving force of the strong performance of bottled water in 2021. Most players now have flavoured bottled water offerings as consumers’ thirst is unquenchable.
Top brand Tassay sees price increase
Unix continued to lead bottled water in 2021, and this was despite price rises for its brand Tassay. The price increase was due to Unix giving up distributing its bottled water itself and letting wholesaler take over distribution instead.
