As the health and wellness trend impacts consumers’ decision making over the forecast period, having been boosted by the outbreak of COVID-19, bottled water is set to benefit over the forecast period. With nectars, juice drinks, and carbonates coming under question due to their sugar content, bottled water will remain the ultimate healthy beverage for consumers to choose.
The installation of tap water filters in Uruguayan households, such as Doulton, Greenpure and Sanswell have not been beneficial to bottled water. Indeed, there has been a notable rise in installations of these tap water filters in 2022.
Although bottled water is expected to continue growing, some of the consequences of the instable economy are set to linger at the beginning of the forecast period. For example, many consumers will continue to find themselves lacking a significant disposable income and will therefore seek for products that offer value for money.

Bulk bottled water is split out separately. It is defined as packaged drinking water – purified, spring or mineral – that is packaged in a container of 8 litres or larger. The bulk bottled water data types apply to Still Bottled Water and Carbonated Bottled Water but do not apply to functional or flavoured bottled water. Bulk water is classified according to the new Bulk retail volume and Bulk retail value data type regardless of channel of sale: bulk water sold via retail locations and bulk water delivered direct to a consumer’s home is included. Bulk water sold to institutions (offices, schools etc.) remains excluded.
