Modern grocery retailers will remain the favourite distribution channels for ice cream in Taiwan, with most consumers frequenting convenience stores, supermarkets or hypermarkets. This is mainly because the delivery of frozen goods tends to be relatively expensive compared to in-store shopping, while in many cases, ice cream needs independent frozen delivery, rather than placed with other fresh groceries.
To cater to consumers’ growing sense of ice cream as a means to deliver self-indulgent luxury, players are innovating by creating ice cream products that resemble desserts.
