Chilean company Empresas CMPC, a multinational group engaged in pulp and paper production, whose industrial and commercial operations in its eight countries, including Argentina, go under the name of Softys, is present within retail tissue in Argentina through its local subsidiary La Papelera del Plata. The latter retained its overall leadership of retail tissue in 2021 through a wide range of brands including Higienol (toilet paper) and the premium-positioned Elite (toilet paper) and Sussex (paper towels).
E-commerce surged during the pandemic and is expected to continue to gain value share over the forecast period, as more consumers have now been exposed to the convenience of online shopping. In addition, the bulkiness of many retail tissue products such as toilet paper and paper towels make direct delivery even more convenient, particularly if consumers do not have a car.
