Other topics that will be discussed include the development of the online channel and the new challenges and opportunities that companies face in a digital world.
The goal is to explore all the aspects that are generating an important impact on the purchasing habits of consumers and the retail sector.

Session title: DIY in 2022: Decision making when instability is the only constant

Session description: Lockdowns forced us to rethink go-to-market strategy around the purpose and vulnerability of stores. Failed parts, waiting lists and bottlenecks forced us to rethink supply strategy and what “reliable” means. Pandemic DIY novices forced us to rethink product, service, sales and retention strategy.

Demand drivers behind recent growth (and growth pains) are still there, but 2022 include several disruption factors. What strategies do we need to rethink this time?

Abnormal cost inflation has caused waves of pain for companies since late 2020, but our new Inflation Projection Tool launched in July 2023 strongly indicates that tools and hardware in home and garden stands out as a category where companies were harmed more than most (and brands more than retailers, so far). This sector is badly dislocated around its ability to pass on costs from production to end consumers.
