Session description: An increasing number of consumers are moving towards flexitarian or plant-based diets. Motivations include health, sustainability concerns, and the hope of improving animal welfare while still being able to enjoy the same tastes, textures and versatility as from animal-derived foods. In this presentation we examine trends influencing the alternatives consumer, highlight innovative products coming to market, look at what’s happing across the spectrum of plant-based products and consider the not-insignificant challenges ahead in ensuring that growth continues.
