Due to its emergent status, RTDs still has much room for growth over the forecast period – providing the category sees more development. For example, there is an excellent opportunity for new flavours, to meet the current trends for exciting and trends drinks; along with the potential of non/low alcohol variants, and those with a “healthier” positioning and natural ingredients.
Gin (in spirits) offers both opportunities and challenges to RTDs. On the one hand, gin supports the concept of RTDs due to the at-home cocktail trend which took off during the era of the pandemic, as consumers have developed a taste for gin-based cocktails and RTDs offer a ready-mixed and convenient version – which also suits on-the-go consumption and social occasions where it is not possible to mix cocktails.
Wine-based RTDs in Kazakhstan remains undeveloped, as there is a lack of brands and products presented in this subcategory. However, the growing awareness of and trends for prosecco and Lambrusco will encourage producers to develop wine-based RTDs in line with the emerging levels of popularity of such variants.

RTDs
RTD stands for ‘ready-to-drink’. Other terms which may be used for these products are FABs, alcopops and premixes. The RTDs sector is the aggregation of malt-, wine-, spirit- and other types of premixed drinks. These drinks usually have an alcohol content of around 5% but this can reach as high as 10% ABV. Premixes containing a high percentage of alcohol of around 15%+ combined with juice or any other soft drink are included here. RTDs are usually marketed as products to be drunk neat, with ice, or as a cocktail ingredient. Fruit-flavoured, vodka-based spirits with an alcohol content of between 16-21% are classified here. Examples: Alizé, Ursus Roter, Berentzen Fruchtige, Kleiner Feigling.
