The Argentine government re-introduced a price control programme named “Precios Maximos” at the beginning of 2021, in an effort to curb rising inflation. This price control programme covers more than 400 food and beverages products, which caused strong pressure to keep prices below official inflation.
Health and wellness trends continue to be main drivers for consumers’ purchasing habits. For example, as seen with NH 100% juice and despite a higher price positioning compared to nectars or juice drinks, with consumers moving towards more healthy and natural juice options overall.
As the health and wellness trend impacts consumers decision making over the forecast period, having been boosted by the outbreak of COVID-19, NH bottled water is set to benefit. That said, other plant-based hot drinks is a rather mature category in Argentina and it is expected that the category may start to lose momentum against fruit/herbal tea and green tea options, which fit well within the growing health and wellness trends.
A more imminent urge to follow a healthy diet and monitor ingredient consumption has resulted from the enhanced wellness trends brought about by the time of the pandemic.
