Organic beverages is by far the smallest category of health and wellness beverages with a limited number of products available. The high unit price of these products was the biggest downside why consumers were not interested in them.

Juice is the main product manufacturers offer in organic beverages

Limited product availability of organic beverages was seen in 2018. Manufacturers mostly aimed for organic 100% juice, which could be seen in most store-based retailers.

The average unit price for organic beverages was very high in Slovakia in 2018, reaching nearly EUR2.8 per litre at the end of the review period.

There was no clear leader within the competitive landscape of organic beverages in terms of value share at the end of the review period. High market fragmentation with a low number of sales held by the various manufacturers in the category was the reason for such development.

Private label brands are not strong in this category

Private label products were present in organic beverages. Tesco Organic Bio 100% apple juice (Tesco Stores) and Solevita Bio 100% orange juice (Lidl Slovenska Republika) were the main private label products available in organic beverages.

Unusual flavours within organic 100% juice are most popular

Within organic 100% juice, manufacturers have aimed for unusual flavours with strong health benefits that the ingredients offer. Goji, sea buckthorn and aronia (chokecherry) were most often flavours used.
