In 2018, fresh food sustained a positive performance throughout all categories in Morocco in total volume terms. This was thanks to the fact that many Moroccans tend to opt for fresh food rather than processed or frozen food, and also because it is cheap and available through different traditional and modern grocery retailers all over the country.

Sales of packaged fresh food are rising in Morocco

The growing number of modern grocery retailers in the country, mainly supermarkets and hypermarkets, is allowing many companies to offer packaged fresh food products in the Moroccan market. However, unpackaged fresh food remains very popular in Morocco, and accounts for the bulk of sales, because it is cheap and available through souks all over the country.
