The pandemic made consumers more aware of their health and the impact certain ingredients have on their wellbeing. Meanwhile, as the public concern over health as part of nutrition is growing, various aspects of energy drinks will continue to come under scrutiny.
With the full reopening of on-trade establishments and better control of COVID-19 cases, the on-trade consumption of energy drinks is likely to continue to grow in the forecast period. Not only will the need for energy-boosting beverages drive this increase, but also the expansion of reduced sugar variants.
The return of the circulation of people in 2022 is expected to lead to a decrease in sales via e-commerce, as consumers return to shopping in store-based retailers, with the share of e-commerce even set to fall below the 2019 pre-pandemic level. However, with working from home policies remaining in place, and with consumers becoming more willing to make purchases online, retail e-commerce sales is likely to see growth in the coming years.
