While such activity did not reach the heights of 2020, the use of advertisements and promotions remained significant in 2021.
Baby wipes, as the largest category witnessed significant innovation and new product development in 2020 and 2021. More brands included baby wipes in their portfolios, such as Pacifica Skin Balance, which featured an innovative cloth to make cleaning easier.
The trend for disinfecting hands, surfaces and living areas is expected to prove robust in the forecast period, with consumers set to continue to adjust to the “new normal” in terms of hygiene and sanitation in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to the maintenance of high hygiene standards in the home, as employees continue to return to their offices and other workplaces and schools resume normal operations, consumers will carry on looking to a wide array of wipes to disinfect surfaces and keep their hands clean from bacteria and viruses.
Baby wipes is predicted to continue to lead sales of wipes in the forecast period. These products are already widely affordable, and although consumers may look to switch to lower-priced brands or private label, sales are set to continue to grow healthily.
While price-sensitivity will shape much of the demand for wipes from consumers in Mexico, the ever-growing call for convenience and the growing focus on hygiene should help to counterbalance this behaviour.
