In 2022, home care in Oman is performing well. Categories such as toilet care, laundry care, and dishwashing are already well developed and although these products are already seen as essential, demand is somewhat underdeveloped in categories such as home insecticides and polishes.
The average household size in Oman is seven persons, with many large households having housekeeping assistance from maids or local services. In smaller families, cleaning chores are typically performed by one or two family members.
Despite low oil prices and enforced oil production cuts, Oman remains a relatively wealthy country, with demand for home care products continuing to grow. Nevertheless, with oil production still capped by the OPEC+ production cut agreement this will still limit GDP growth in Oman.
Logistics infrastructure continues to improve across Oman, with products being distributed via multiple warehouses and sophisticated local/company logistics systems. Although towns and cities are scattered across the country, with the majority of the landscape being desert, the country’s excellent road network ensures the efficient transportation of goods.
Home care is set to perform well in current value and volume terms over the forecast period as the COVID-19 pandemic has changed views concerning hygiene and cleanliness in Oman and this is set to persist in the years to come. As a result, current value sales will remain higher than that seen prior to the pandemic.
