Small brands like Gourmet Cola and other new mushroom brands are sold more in suburban areas, where consumers are price-sensitive and do not have high awareness of the leading brands. Therefore, they opt for brands that are light on their pockets and provide some recreational or socialising benefit.
With high inflation and rising costs of living due to rising energy and food and drink prices, price-sensitive consumers are likely to restrict their spending on the non-necessity products, which includes carbonates. As a result, the growth potential of the category in the short term, at least, is set to be impacted by inflationary pressure on household budgets.
Leading players like Coca-Cola Beverages Pakistan and PepsiCo are expected to continue to shift their production towards more sustainable methods, such as reducing water and energy consumption. The packaging they use to present their brands and products are also predicted to become more sustainable in terms of materials and size, etc.
