Juice looks set to perform reasonably well during the forecast period, with robust growth in off-trade volume sales projected and most categories expected to post consistently positive results in this respect. Together with population growth and rising urbanisation, the increasing tendency of Egyptians to make healthier soft drinks choices will continue to buoy overall demand, with 100% juice likely to remain the chief beneficiary of this trend.
Inflationary pressures fuelled by the weakness of the pound, the fallout of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and other factors will continue to drive up costs for juice producers in Egypt over the forecast period. To preserve their margins and reduce the need to impose further price hikes on consumers who have recently experienced a substantial drop in purchasing power, it is expected companies will seek to make savings by adopting new strategies and technologies that can improve efficiencies in areas like manufacturing, distribution, supply chain logistics etc.
With Egyptians likely to remain cautious in their discretionary spending habits for some time, during the early years of the forecast period juice manufacturers may find that the development of new flavour variants or changes to packaging formats and designs offer diminishing returns as strategies to boost sales. As a result, price competition looks set to intensify, with companies expected to try to increase demand via more frequent and aggressive discount campaigns, regular buy-one-get-one-free offers etc.

Juice
This category covers all still packaged juice obtained from fruits or vegetables by mechanical processes, reconstituted or fresh, often including pulp or fruit/vegetable puree. All unpackaged juices are excluded. Only still drinks are included here. Carbonated varieties are included non-cola carbonates. Juice-flavoured milk drinks and fruit shakes which are primarily milk are excluded–these are instead tracked in Packaged Foods Dairy. However, if the juice component is greater, the product is to be excluded from Packaged Foods Dairy coverage and tracked under the relevant category (based on % juice content) within Soft Drinks juice. This sector is the aggregation of 100% juice, nectars (25-99% juice content), juice drinks (up to 24% juice content), and coconut & other plant waters.
