Despite the shift to on-trade anticipated over the coming years as these channels recover from the significant decline resulting from the COVID-19 crisis and the market finds a “new normality”, juice off-trade volume sales are likely to continue to rise. The health and wellness trend will be the key driver of rising demand in off-trade channels, where the category is likely to continue to capture sales from other soft drinks categories.
Interest in products with a natural positioning is set to drive consumer demand patterns over the forecast period. Demand for natural juices utilising natural preservation and pasteurisation processes is expected to rise.
With an ongoing energy crisis, instability in the cost of raw materials and labour shortages, the juices category is set to see continued upward pressure on prices during the forecast period. At the same time, even though consumer budgets will be under pressure, demand for added-value products has the potential to continue to rise over the coming years, supported by the strong health and wellness trend.

Juice
This category covers all still packaged juice obtained from fruits or vegetables by mechanical processes, reconstituted or fresh, often including pulp or fruit/vegetable puree. All unpackaged juices are excluded. Only still drinks are included here. Carbonated varieties are included non-cola carbonates. Juice-flavoured milk drinks and fruit shakes which are primarily milk are excluded–these are instead tracked in Packaged Foods Dairy. However, if the juice component is greater, the product is to be excluded from Packaged Foods Dairy coverage and tracked under the relevant category (based on % juice content) within Soft Drinks juice. This sector is the aggregation of 100% juice, nectars (25-99% juice content), juice drinks (up to 24% juice content), and coconut & other plant waters.
