Natural Swedish Cosmetics (Oriflame) saw decreases in value sales over 2015-2017, and saw only low growth in 2018, due to significant stock-outs witnessed by the company. The fall in the oil price pushed the Algerian government to implement restrictions on imports, which had a negative impact on Oriflame’s business.

International brands lead skin care

Overall skin care continued to be dominated by international players in 2018, due to several factors. Indeed, French companies have always had a privileged relationship with Algeria, because they have been present in the market for a long time with portfolios of highly-recognised brands.
