Premium fragrances continued to account for the largest value share of premium beauty and personal care sales in Uruguay in 2018. That is mainly because consumers are willing to pay more for fragrances, and are not so aware of the differences in prices for those products.

Consumers associate premium with quality

Consumers continue to think that premium products have, besides the higher unit prices, higher quality than the mass products do. That was certainly true in the review period; however, many mass producers are launching products with increasing quality whilst maintaining cheaper prices than that of premium products.
