Fresh ground coffee pods will continue to achieve very strong double-digit retail value growth in 2022 thanks to significant new product development and launches by leading players. These innovations have the potential to shake up the performance of the entire fresh coffee category.
Nestlé Adriatik Makedonija will continue to lead hot drinks in retail value terms in North Macedonia largely thanks to its dominance within instant standard coffee through its globally recognised Nescafé brand. In addition, by expanding its sales across fresh ground coffee pods with its Nespresso capsules, the company is staying on-trend with consumer demands and will therefore further improve its market share in 2022.
Due to the significant volume sales of fresh ground coffee, traditional grocery retailers will continue to dominate the distribution landscape of hot drinks in 2022. At the same time, modern grocery channels are increasing their distribution share since sales are consolidating in the hands of fewer players when compared with the early review period.
Foodservice sales of hot drinks continue to approach pre-pandemic levels as COVID-19 restrictions come to an end and consumers feel more confident in spending time out of the home again. The industry has not witnessed any significant lockdowns, mandated closures or restrictions in 2022, thus improving the prospects of sales.
